Title: new customer
Post by: woodmills1 on July 22, 2016, 08:20:16 PM
He pulls in with a brand new 2017 western star tri-axle and asks for 2   2x10x16 oak truck sides.  I say sure give me a few days.  More story later, but when he comes back I ask how much the truck set him back.   With: pusher axle, auto cover, hyd tailgate, and auto trans,  $180,000.  The ad-dons cost as much as my Tacoma sport.

A new haul road speced tractor with just a fifth wheel on it runs somewhere between 180,000 and 229,000, then most spend upwards of 20,000 worth of gear added before they haul the first load.

Since the price of oil dropped, the dealers lots are full of trucks 2 years old or less though.
