I am almost finished with my bandmill. One of the last steps is building log dogs/supports for the trailer. I am looking for some advice from someone who has done this in the past. Currently, my plan is to follow what seems to be a very common design: run a piece of pipe parallel to the bunks, and fix the log support to one side, and have a sliding clamp or log dog on the other end. The pipe will rotate to accommodate different log sizes.
If anyone has pictures of their setup, they would be much appreciated!
How important is it to have the log support perpendicular to the bunks? It seems with this design, welding the support to the pipe and having it swing could cause the fence to not be exactly perpendicular at certain points.
I've tryed 3 types and i dont like any of them.

This cam clamp slides in and out and raises/lowers to accommodate the cant. It works really well. I made 4 - one for each squaring arm.
