Title: John Glen died today.
Post by: Just Me on December 08, 2016, 06:58:46 PM
If you are my age he was probably one of your heros, he was mine and still is.

If you have not read his Gold Star speech in response to Howard Metzenbaum's never had a job comment in the 1974 Ohio senate race look it up. It still chokes me up when I read it.

Sad, and I don't get sad........

As a twelve year old, John Glenn was my Hero.  And a brave man to be fired off into space, not knowing if he would return alive or not.   Thanks for the Post, Just Me

Our third grade teacher brought in a tv to class so we could follow launch and news of flight.
Those were exciting times. God speed, John Glenn.

Those were heady times for a 12 year old with an active imagination, space travel seemed surreal. John Glen was a truly remarkable individual. RIP.

Seems like last week or yesterday, makes me start to feel OLD. John was just the first of a bunch of unusual individuals. Most of them had engineering backgrounds, sharp sharp folks, not just a bunch of hot-shot test pilots. RIP John Glen

I just read that John Glenn flew with Charles Lindbergh in the Pacific during WWII. Can you believe it?!
