Post by: JW IN VA on December 30, 2016, 12:06:40 PM
Any difference?

Very important differences - the 450 is a "homeowner" saw with a plastic case and a clamshell engine, while the 545 is a "detuned" pro saw with a vertically split mag case (= a proper "semi-pro" saw, that is built like a pro saw, just with a bit less performance).

Why is the difference for you important? What aren your cutting jobs?

Just curious. The specs seem to be the same but there is about 150.00 difference in the price here.Wanted to know what the specs weren't telling. You usually get what you pay for.
It would not be my primary saw so I'm thinking 545 instead of 550xp.

This is one of those discussions where you can't win....but you would probably be pleased with either one. Why not consider a 455?

Thanks for all the replies. The 028 is going now so I have a backup until the 362 parts arrive and until I get time to finish the 026.

The 545 has autotune and always runs spot on.  I had my 2252 Jonsered (red and black 545) and my 445 Husqvarna in the same piece of wood a couple of days ago.  Not even a fair comparison I know, but I can't see how a 450 would fair much better against the pro saw.
