Title: Decided to upgrade
Post by: flyboy16101 on January 29, 2017, 08:25:52 PM
I thought it was time to trade in the Lt28 for some hydraulics. So on Friday I made the trip out to see Marty and traded up. Got her home and had to wash it twice thanks to Penn DOT and all their salt. And finally got to saw some lumber today. Just wanted to say thank you to Marty and Chelsea and the rest of the crew at Pa Woodmizer for all their help.

Congratulations on the upgrade. It's nice to see saw mills under cover. Looks a bit muddy outside.

Congratulations. You will not regret getting the hydraulics.

Now it will be interesting to see how long before you want to take the next step up to get the extra cutting width and more hp.

WV sawmiller it will be a long time before that upgrade comes.
Dave I didn't get a picture of it but that hole hillside next to the lumber pile slide out about 4 feet covering part of my one log pile

You're going to  have to make a lot more stickers now.. that is nice.  Loading logs on the mill is a breeze now.  Have fun!

Flyboy- ya figure that the LT35 will cut big enough for the logs that you have out there? Thinking you already know that because your last mill was a LT28 and the LT35 has the same size sawing head... but do you ever run into logs too large? Still not sure about the LT40 that I'm looking at and want to hear more from LT28 and LT35 owners using that smaller head. I am on the West Coast and the Red Cedar out here can get somewhat gargantuan with the flare at the butt end.

Seaview it is not uncommon to come across logs too big for the 28/35 head but not often enough for me to justify a bigger mill, most logs bigger than the mill will handle I have gotten by cutting a groove with a chainsaw for the left blade guide to clear. Then again out west you guys deal with a lot bigger stuff then we have. And around here a tree bigger than 36" that is not rotten in the middle is rare.
