I was given a pretty rough Walnut last summer and just got around to sawing it today. Finished up with a 14" x 16" x 12' cant...not perfect but pretty good...surprised me. I just left it laying on the saw until I can decide what I want to do with it. I'll probable make 1.5" or 2" for benches and give them as gifts. Sometimes ya just get lucky.
So yer saying that after the sapwood is removed that is the final size of the black walnut cant? That is a nice sized pice of black! Good for you 8)
