I wrote this poem because I had a friend who put her pies out one evening to cool on the deck. A skunk was then hit in front of her house by a car, presumably trying to cross to get to the pies. She noted the smell wafting through the window was that of skunk not pie, so, to harass her a bit, I wrote this poem.
The Skunk
Who was your friend that put on all the airs,
With odiferous offering that few could find fair?
Why I know who that was! He lived down by the way
He traveled at night as he slept during the day.
His outings to dine were known far and wide,
You knew he was out there by simply going outside.
I know you will miss this friend who use to come over.
Who ate from your garbage and catfood and clover.
He met his end, because he smelled YOU!
Well not so much that, but the baking you do.
Remember the night you made that pie al a mode?
That next morning we found him. Dead in your road.

Ah, your creative side boils to the surface once again. Funny story and welll written yarn.
You might not get any more pies if you read her that. :D
