Title: Help! Identifying a Florida Tree

Anybody know what this is? The grain isn't open like an oak, so it's not that. It also has a distinct smell, which isn't that great. The tree was struck by lightning and the top half broke off a while ago, so I don't have any pics of the leaves.

Looks like black cherry.  It is my favorite wood to cook on.  It will smell sweet when it is burning.

Definitely black cherry.  My favorite smoking wood for grilling.  My least favorite wood to dry.  Cracks like crazy.
