So many need to learn that Memorial Day isn't a Holiday but a day of remembering those that died for our freedom.  I believe they would want us to enjoy our day as we remembered them. They will never be forgotten.

Memorial Day was originally Decoration .  Veterans Day was originally Armistice Day .

The "original" origin of Memorial Day is kinda lost in history but there are many different stories and claims, none of which really matter:  LINK (http://www.livescience.com/54919-true-story-behind-first-memorial-day.html)

The fact that does matter is that it is a day set aside to honor our Fallen Heroes that gave their lives defending our Country and our Freedom.

Just curious, why the difference in the rank insignia compared to what is normally worn?

MM,
It is Civil War era rank style used for that style dress uniforms. The cadets at westpoint still wear that style as well.

I saw that it was more ornate, but I could not find the insignia.  Thank You.
