Title: Olympyk is putting out a lot of bar oil...
Post by: mrcaptainbob on October 30, 2017, 02:41:15 PM
This old Olympyk 272i is a great running saw. Really impressed with it. But it goes through a tank of bar oil in less time than a tank of fuel. How is that bar oil adjusted? There is a hex screw on the machine front with a circular arrow. May show H/L at the ends. Hard to tell. It's snugged all the way in, but is pretty loose when turned out some. Almost like it wants to come all the way out. How is the bar oil pumping adjusted?

Not knowing what else to do I'll pull that screw all the way out and see if there's an adjustment under it.

Although not in a bathtub, I did have a eureka moment. Took that allen 'screw' all the way out only to find it had a through hole. And....deep down inside the saw body was a slotted screw!! Found it's two limits and set it at mid-point. WIll check tomorrow for oil consumption. At least now I know how to.
