Title: Stihl heated handle wraps
Post by: CMI80 on December 02, 2017, 12:05:05 PM
Advice on whether a heated handle is something you like or not ?  Can it be regulated and or turn off ? Approximate cost?
Thanks

I like them, especially when the temperature is around freezing, keep wet gloves from being cold.
And they can be turned off.

Are you looking at buying an Arctic model or retrofittting a saw? The latter gets expensive for a little comfort. As sablatnic says, they do keep wet gloves from freezing.

I had them on my husky. Brought it new,was only $50 more. Really like them. Went to pieces, after 3-4 years, put another handle on all was good.Until the saw fell out of the back and the twitch ran over the saw.  ::)   :o  Now I live here and keep spare gloves in the OWB. I am only cutting firewood now. Gloves get wet,I change them. My hands did not really get cold, but when I hooked up the logs, that is when my hands would get wet from the chains filling up with snow. Takes to much time to warm my hands back up on the exhaust of the tractor.  ;D

Thanks for the feedback. This would be for a new artic saw. I'm not familiar with heated handles so I'll ask, I assume both wrap and throttle handles are heated ?

Yes they are. There is a off and on button. The harder you run the saw,the hotter the handles get. At idle the handles are not that warm. This is on a 372 husky, probably around the early part of 2000.

yes I mainly only buy saws with heated handles , keep your hands warm and that helps keeping the rest of you warm
