The last few days its been raining and the frost went out.BUT now looks like we got about 9 or10 inchs and it is going to start sleetin/rain.This should be a real fun day. ::)

Yep it's here too. :(
In the last three days we've had an inch of freezing rain, then a dabble of sleet, then two inches of snow. Sure is fun gettin around. Could be worse though, a town 15 miles NE of here had there power out most of yesterday.

I changed the title to my post because....

I got my Gurneys seed catalog today!! I did have to trudge through about 6 inches of fresh snow to get it though. I hear Tammy has called school off as of noon also.

Actually, our Neighbors, the Wades, have asked us to go to Mt. Pleasant with them to "The Embers" for a Borgasmorg. Its one of those ritzy ditzy places where you can't see what color your food is because of the "Mood" lighting. (Red).

I hope it will taste better then it looks. mashed taters with a red hue dont sound  all that appetizing. I was there one other time. Jeremy one a hoop shoot contest at CMU half time and gave us the prize. A breakfast buffet.  Red Scrambled eggs. Yum. Only think lacking there was da g*rits. :-/

My catalog came today as well Jeff. Would REALLY like to order some trees from them, but they sure are not cheap. :o
Had to wade through 6-7" of snow as well.

Got the backhoe out to clear the drive and got stuck when I slide off the side of the drive.  :-/ Can't go back (uphill), can't go forward (big pile of snow), tried to go sideways and just tore the yard up.  ::)
Ended up getting bit by one of them snow snakes myself when I was trying to get some chains under the tire. Came down on my knee, it smarts!

Looking forward for the mid 40's they are calling for next week, except for the mud that comes with it. ::)

We got a couple of inches of snow last night on top of the sheet of ice we collected a few days ago. We don't set foot outside the  door now without strapping ice cleats on our boots. Could be worse. Got an e-mail from my wife's brother this morning.  He lives down in Southwestern Wisconsin where we both grew up.  They got the ice, too, and fourteen inches of snow overnight.  :(

I wish winter was here . This week we have gotten somewhere near  5-6" of rain and the temps in the 40 - high 50's . The Ohio River is above flood stage and causing alot of destruction . It is going to be higher than the Sept. 17 flood  we had . It is a shame cause most people are very close to getting their lives back together after the last flood . I am working on a scrollsawed sign for a bar/resturant I go to and guess they won't need it for awhile . They were only 6 days  from reopening after fixing the place up from the last  one .I  don't know if I would be able to redo it again  if I were them . I would rather have the mountains of snow than all of this rain .

Hey Jeff when I go to one of those places that is all you can eat it becomes a personal challenge .  It seems no matter how hard I try to control myself  I come out of there stuffed looking for a place to take a nap . :D

Well, the meal was O.K., but not great, although the included desert, coconut creme pie about 4 inches thick was really o.k. ;D

Winter is still here Da scooter cam is now a snow cam :-/

:D  Don't rule it out. If we get a wireless, battery powered, we'll try it!

I have a small wireless video camera, the button size type.
It's really cool to stick it on radio controlled cars and stuff.
Have a real small wired B&W one that I built a little car for to drive it down a rabbit hole. Only made it in a little ways before I decided that it needed as design change. Never got around to it though.

Does it transmit to a P.C.? where did you get it?

Title: Re: winter has finally arrived

Now that ya mention it................ ;D
It transmits to a receiver that then connects to a TV, VCR, or I guess if ya have the right stuff........PC, via A/V cables. Trying to remember if it had an S video connector or not.

They did have systems and software for PC's as well.

My wireless is color, and I'm not real thrilled about the quaility.
The wired B&W came from something I tore apart. I really like the quaility in that though. I hooked up adapters so I could use standard phone cables with it, and got a 100' cable. I made it water proof at one time and attached it to the tow rope of a tubber being pulled by a boat. Was really cool, even with the low quaility.

Jeff,
Ya looking for..................X10.com (http://x10.com/techtoysab2.htm).
It's been mentioned here before so ya may already know about it.
If ya weren't so far away, I'd show ya the quaility difference between mine. Like I said, the wireless color one came from here. I don't know how their B&W ones compare to their color ones. Also don't know what the results are after connecting to a PC either. They have setups so you can hook up your whole house and view it online. I guess it all comes down to what you want to do and spend. I have an S video connector on my laptop, but also want to get a USB to A/V connector for it. They start around $50 and go up from there.

The batteries in the wireless only last a couple of hours for 4 AA. You can get a 110v power supply for them though.

Maybe I can get a pic over the weekend of the quaility, I'll see if it works.

This has been one weather season for the books and we're just getting started. Here in So In we had the driest Sept on record .17 inch and then the wettest Oct., 2 or 3 feet!  Exagerating!  Then just wet to make it the wettest year on record, 67 inches.  Then late Dec snow. Salem In recorded 32 inches. Wow!!  Then a week later it was mostly gone.  Now we are back to rain. Take a guess how are mill yard looks?

The beauty of a white Christmas was something else.

Long range forecast is for cold and dry startingJan 13 through the 22.  Hope the forecasters are right. We've got a lot of water to drain off.

Plus side, no ticks, no mosquitoes and I don't get hot wearing chaps. The woods has its own strange beauty with glistening leaves, grey spooky trees, and weird lighting.

We were just on the edge of the last snow storm but the rain has been killing us.  4" two days ago.  Local schools were closed because of flooding. They couldnt flush the toilets.

Woke up this morning to 7 inches of snow.  Now where did that come from?  When I went to be they said a 20% chance of flurries.  OK, I know.  Never put much faith in the weather folks. Its out of their control.

Supposed to get to 40 today.  Great, another mud pond in the log yard :(  All the rain has suturated everything and now with all the melting snow it should be a real mess this weekend.

What ya mean "no mosquitoes"?
What ya do, send them up here?
They may not be as bad as summer, but the houses are loaded with them. :o
It's not too offten I have to swat mosquitoes while trying to type, in JANUARY, in Michigan!

Jeff,
I can't get a pic to show up well enough from those cameras. If I can dig up an S video cable in the next couple of days, I may be able to get something to work.

Just in case you all don't belive I have a lot of mosquitoes in the house............... I had bat flying around in the house earlier today. :o
It got away before I could catch it, so it's still there someplace. Not sure how it got in, I have a few small cracks that it could have crawled through, but I'm guessing it flew in some night when I came home.
Now if I could only figure out where it's hiding.............

We're getting the snow here now. At 6:00 P.M. the weathermen were saying we might get 5 inches. At 10:00 they said 3 to 8 inches in addition to the two that had already fallen, with locally heavier snow in some areas. Translation: they don't have a clue.  ::)
