Title: Drying milled lumber.
Post by: djhuston on December 16, 2017, 01:59:13 PM
Can soft maple milled lumber be dried inside barn with cement floor. It has good ventilation and heat is available. Has anyone ever done this. Thank you Darrel.

Sure, airflow is the key. Don't push it up against a wall, it needs air moving through the stack, fans if necessary, if you see it beginning to mold. Below the 40's and that isn't really a risk, as you add heat something to watch for. It will of course dry faster as you add heat but you will need to vent often if you do that as well.

It will gray stain in a flash if you are not careful.  Needs LOTS of air flow.  I would not air dry it in an enclosed space.
