Right before Christmas I bought out a whole shop, I sold off a lot of it , doubled my money and kept a lot of things I wanted.
Among the machines were two G1035 Shapers, I sold the Delta 3hp shaper, as I have a Steel City 3hp and a new Grizzly 5hp tilting spindle Shaper. I'm not a big fan of Delta products anyway.
I ordered the cast iron hand wheels ,(They had plastic ones)
the table extension wings, dust chutes and Shop Fox mobile Bases.
I have them set up and hooked up to a cheap Harbor Freight 2hp dust collector.
Still waiting on on the strap to hold the lower bag to the collector.
So much for Fed-Ex. They shipped it two weeks ago.
I have some 3/4 bore T&G V Groove Cutters from Grizzly as well.
Once I get those set up and running, I have a couple of thousand feet of
6 3/8" wide stock made up to feed through them.
I've had good luck with Grizzly machines so far and I will be following up with a full report on these machines.
These shapers had already been changed over for 220V operation , so that was one less thing I had to do.
I will see once again if I can post pictures, this site is a PITA to post pictures and it is just too much hassel for me to bother most of the time. I figured it out once but it escapes me now.
I hope everyone had a great holiday season and wish prosperity for all of you in 2018.
They are from Taiwan so they should be good. I have 2 YouTube subscribers that bought G1023 saws like mine from Taiwan and both of them had alignment issues from bad machining and had to go back for repair. You never know with Grizzly, but atleast they will fix them if there are problems.
Yea, they are good about that. I have their G1140 sander, the start windings burned out of the motor, and with a couple of phone calls they sent me a new motor, no questions asked and told me to keep the old one for parts. Grizzly has treated me extremely well. I'm a believer. I also have one of their bigger 5hp Shapers and their 24 inch double drum sander.
Everything I have runs very well. Some say "You're rolling the dice" but I've nothing but positive experience with them so far.
Congrats on the new acquisitions!
I've had a Grizzly G8622 5ph sliding table tilting spindle shaper for about 8 years. It's been a great machine with no problems whatsoever.
One accessory that I would strongly advise you add (if you don't already have it) is a power feeder. Mine has a 1hp variable speed feeder and it's pretty much a requirement if you are going to be doing any volume of moulding, flooring, etc.
I worked for Grizzly for 6 years and I would have no problem buying machines
from them. The Taiwan made machines are the best.
I'd like to have the power feeder, my table is not drilled and tapped for one though. Grizzly has a nice 1 hp feeder with the arm and mounting hardware for about a thousand dollars.
I'm thinking very hard on it.
I do have an older Williams & Hussy moulder machine with about 25 sets of knives. A Masonic Brother gave it to me about ten years ago.
I have Grizzly's Z series , five flute cutters for Rails ,stiles and panel raiser for
entry doors a set for passage doors and a set for cabinet doors all matching with the ogee profile.
The feeder wood be really nice for cutting the rails and stiles.
I think the 5hp shaper would handle it easily.
I have a boat load of walnt, mahogany, cherry and Ponderosa Pine that's calling out to me to be machined !
We're going to get snowed on tonight and the Port of Virginia is closed til noon friday , so I am off work tomorrow.
I think I'm going to finish setting up the two little shapers for the T&G V paneling. Maybe resize a few rifle cases too. Have about 300 7mm Mag cases to reload. It's hard being one man.
You do not need to drill and tap the table. Grizzly sell a bolt on adapter.

Ahhhhhhh !!!! I did not know that. That's a handy little adapter. I'm leaning towards that feeder for sure now. Thanks !
