Title: TFG scribing workshop in NH during March
Post by: Jim_Rogers on January 19, 2018, 01:13:58 PM
I will be participating in a scribe workshop, as an assistant instructor/joint cutter at a TFG (Timber Framers Guild) sponsored event in NH during a weekend in March.

The frame we will be cutting will be raffled off at the "Old House and Barn Expo" in Manchester, NH on Sunday March 25th. The workshop will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, March 21st to 23rd, 2018.

From the web page: "All workshop participants are required to maintain current membership in the Timber Framers Guild. If you are not a current member and are new to the TFG, you may be eligible for a free, temporary membership."

For further details go to this link:

Or post a question here and I'll try and get you the answer.

Thanks Jim,
I'd be interested in attending but I let my membership lapse. I'll have to think about as the cost of the membership to me is pretty high.

Moo:
the guild office said to contact them directly "so we can re-activate their membership, our website won't let them re-join on their own."

For anyone who is interested in signing up for this workshop, I have a special code for you to enter (when you sign up online) and you'll get a temporary membership for the class, and some time beyond. PM me or email me for the code.

On Wednesday the 21st through Friday the 23rd I attended the scribe workshop class.
Where we learned how to use all shapes of timbers.
Here are some shots of the timbers:

And we learned why is it necessary to "paint your thumb nails"

One of the two ladies sitting down were from the expo group and one was from some commission of the state.
