Jim,
I just joined today and have been following the forum for a awhile and trying to get started in my first project.  I have a user name at the forestry forum and two books.  And now i think i need a chisel.  I see you have many different choices.  Could you please point me in the right direction.  I would like to have a good older tool that i can have around for some time with good care.  I assume from my reading i need a framing chisel????  Please let me know which tool or tools that you have for sale that i may purchase.

Thanks

Parlay100:
The above list is current.
If you go to the timber framing section of the forum you'll find a list of tools that we recommend every timber framer have/has.
Look around your place and see what tools you have that are on the list, then create a new list of the tools you will want.
I can help you find those tools.
For chisels, usually you get one that matches the width of the mortises you intend to cut.
However, when you're just starting out you may want to just get a 1 1/2" chisel as it can work in a 2" mortise. You shouldn't buy a 2" chisel if you're going to do 1 1/2" mortise, makes sense, of course.
Any of the chisels on the list are good ones, pick one out and if there isn't a photo in my gallery of it, let me know and I'll take a picture and post it, in the gallery for you.
I am behind in having all tools for sale photographed, sorry about that....

PS. Also, send me an email via the regular email system so I can send you some "tool buying info". Thanks for your interest in our tools.
