Title: Stihl 051 av bar size.

Hey i was wondering if i could use a regular stihl bar and file out the stud mounts to get it to fit on the 051 av. Its an older saw and am having trouble finding a bar for it. It has stud mounts that are only a few mm larger than the new bars oh and the oiler lines up just fine. Any advice would be great, thanks.

I see no reason why not but i think stihl still offers a bar fit it.

You can mill them out to fit I imagine .FTIW I have a Stihl 066 mount 42" that was resized for an 084.

With a few exceptions you can adapt about any bar to fit any saw .Of course trying to refit something like a bar from a Stihl 200T to fit an 084 or visa versa would be an exercise in futility .
