Hey all, i have a 450a tj with clark trans and 4-53.  I'm having continuous trouble with water (not a freeze) in my bell housing getting flung by the flywheel into my starter.  Searched for a drain plug by feel but couldn't find one.  Anyone else have this prob and or any thoughts????

I think I remember a plastic plug on the fly wheel housing around 10:00 (viewed from back of motor) is that how the water is getting in?  Maybe cover machine with tarp.. strange

That sounds strange to me, too. My first thought was "Swamp Loggers", then I saw you were from the great state of Maine.

Ya, it is odd..the sheet metal on it is all good, can imagine how any rain is getting in there and I don't take it swimming...when i take the starter out the water litterally pours out of it.  PITA in the winter- need to put a torch to it to thaw it.  Took the plug out of the end of the starter today-may let some of it dry and evaporate...??? Makin ' me nuts!

Bear in mind that I don't know jack about this type of equipment, but I'm thinking it's coming in from a high point somewhere, and then migrating to the bottom. Correct? Any other seals or gaskets in there that could have been breached or have deteriorated?

Can't figure where it may be coming in.  Thinking it's been in there for a while just need to get it out...took cap off the end of the starter and will run it that way for a bit-maybe it will allow for some evaporating.

a few people here had the  same thing thay put 1/4 inch hole in the bell housing
