I have a 1600 with manual log stops and toe boards I would like to convert it to hydraulic log stops and hydraulic toe boards. Can anyone send me some pictures of a hydraulic set up please so I can see what is involved in the conversion. I would need several pictures of each to be able to determine what needs to be done.

What type of log  stops do you have? Do they swing up and down? The toe board rollers shouldn't be to hard. Where will you power the hydraulics from?

I too have a tk1600 and would like to do the same. I would also be interested in the photos.

The 1600 has the swing-up style backstops that are operated from a lever at the rear of the mill.  For those, I would just replace the function of the lever with a hydraulic cylinder.  Here's one version of a homemade toe roller:

That's actually a toe roller he made for his manual Kasco mill but it would be a good starting point for designing your own. :)

I would take it a step further on the log stops and make a vertical type with hydraulic cylinders . The swing up type always get hung up on knots or rough bark. The mechanism which raises and lowers them in the current setup is not strong enough to withstand the force of hydraulics. I've bent mine manually.
