It's this weekend. Some have it on both days and some only one day. I know most of you that live in Maine have heard of this. But thought some of you from away would like to see what is done.

We have toured some of the shacks. It makes for a fun day.

We went and had a grand day. Some had 700 taps some 16,000.

Lots and lots of sampling went on my by thecfarm.  ;D
That stuff is some good. Most was not boiling sap, just water. The only place that I got "The smell" was the one with 16,000 taps. The weather has not been coorperating.

I've been wondering how it was going to go!

Not a real good year for syrup production!

It will extend well out into April though!

We did make 5½ gallons yesterday, and things are supposed to pick up later in the week!

Jack's evaporator was boiling down 60 gallons/hour yesterday!

Everything still frozen solid up here. I here ya on the 'just boiling water'. Mom and dad went to a sugary a few years ago and it was cold, in the teens and it had never warmed up for sap to run even before that day. They was boiling water, and some people couldn't realize it. Didn't click. Mom and dad weren't fooled.  ;D Reminds me of the time someone went to the local farm market on a warm day in May and asked if there was fresh local corn.  Takes all kinds. ;D

Non of the sap houses was trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes. The sap houses was just trying to show the public how the sap was run through the paces. One guy said,I had to do the same thing in 2012 because the season over. There are many that have no idea about what the process is. Maple Sunday is to help out with that.
It was a god turn out at the 6 we went to. The least was about 10 all the way to 30-40. Some places would of had maybe the 30-40 people, but only had room for 15.

Ah, yes I can understand what you mean. But that wasn't the case where mom and dad was. Or an unintended consequence maybe without explanation.
