Yep Today is pi day the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter.  Today at 9:26 am pm and 53 seconds it is good to 10 digits

Oddly enough I went to the bakery today (I almost never go to the bakery) and bought some bread, while waiting my turn to pay I decided to get a blueberry pie. Now I know why. ;D

We cook our cornbread (usually called Johnny cake here) in a cast-iron frying pan, its round.

Mine was Pecan heated with vanilla ice cream.... oh baby it was gooooood.

Now I am thinking a round skillet of corn bread!  I should have started this in the food section.

right on been there!    And swampy pete, nothing useless about mathematical constants; and you should be thankful some one understands them unless of course you have nothing but hand tools you fashioned yourself. :D :D

I do understand that 3.14159etcetc is a useful mathematical constant, but how does producing a date and time help with any calculations?
I'll stick with apple cherry pumpkin etc.

Just finished the last of the pecan pie with ice cream!   I like pie.  Pi helps me figure diameter too!

Dave Shepard

Last summer one of my blacksmith friends rattled off pi to the 40th place. He said 40 places was all he needed to know for most calculations. He is in his mid-90's and helped design the hydrostatic steering on Bradley fighting vehicles.

WOW 40 digits!!!   Rate I am going at 90 I may just be sitting around trying to remember my name. If I am still on this earth.

I might have gotten to 4 after decimal but I was done after that.  This year might help me remember another 4, but really don't even need the four.
If I can remember to divide circumference by 3 or 3.14 I feel pretty good about the diameter I come up with.

4x4American

Did you check him for accuracy  ;D
Boy, back in my day..

Dave Shepard

Not necessary. At that point, I'm sure it is so etched in his memory he would be incapable of error. :D
