OH logger

so I ran a 395 over with the skidder saturday  :-X and went to order another one just like it with heated handles (you can call me a sissy but I am a sissy with warm hands  ;D) and my saw guy calls husky to order it and they said there is none available. when he asked if it is temporary or if they quit makin them the guy at husky got squirrely and avoided answering (probly don't know how to say "i don't know"). hes goin to call his rep from husky tomorrow so I should find out then but have you guys heard anything on this if they are just out of them or they don't put the heated handles on them any more. I know they'll cut trees down just as fast without them but just kinda bummed cause that's all ive ran for the last 8 years or so and am REALLY happy with em. thanks

Haven't heard anything like that and can't imagine. Probably just lack of communication.
Sorry for your loss btw, but s$%^# happens.
Make sure you know how to fall properly when you fall and as to not hurt anyone around you.
Also remember, it's not the fall what hurts, its the sudden stop. !!

That seem odd. Tell them you will have to buy a Stihl. THAN see what he has to say.  ;D I liked my heated handles on my 372 when I was cutting in the winter. I'm a sissy too.  ;D I find I get more done warming my hands on the handles of the chainsaw instead of warming my hands on the exhaust of the tractor.

395 is gone , no longer made , if you can find one at a dealer that is about the only place your going to get one . Stihl is or has quit making heated handle saws as well , ever see a heated 661 , nope and from what I was told you won't . Not enough sales to keep building heated handles . Now Husky has quit making saws before then turned around 6 months or a year later and made another bunch of saws to fill the market as they know when they stopped making the 395 Stihl 661 sales went up cause guys just went to it

OH logger

ehp are you saying the 395 is no longer made; or just the heated handle version???????
john

the 395 is no longer made  but knowing Husky like I do that could change in a heart beat , just look how many time they quit making the old style 372 xp then turn around and make 5000 or so more and they did that what 4 or 5 times at least . It sure helped Huskies profits . Scare everyone their favorite saw is gone so you better buy everyone you can find

No more heated handles!!!!  :o    But I suspect the heated cabs did the heated handles in.

no more 395's , I can still get heated 372, 562 , so far

Sawhand

I did not know the 395 was no longer being made. I bought one in June and the local dealer didn't mention anything about that.

I received a Baileys sale paper this last week and they still had 395's for sale, time will tell I guess  ::).

What you are seeing is stock that has not sold as the States had alot more 395's sitting in warehouses that what Canada had , Canada has been out of 395's for a while now and dealers know there is no more

OH logger

I asked my saw guy about that and he hadn't heard about them quittin makin them. I hope HE is right , no offense ehp. seems to me they sell a lot of them so why would they discontinue em???? its obviously above my pay grade. ;D

reason is the 395 is a old type of motor and will not pass the new EPA rules so Husky has to build a new design that will fit the new EPA rules , Here in Canada the 395 has been gone for a while and the dealer only has to look at his ordering book, if there is no 395 in there then they have stopped production . The EPA is pretty much God and what they says goes , if there was no rules as far as EPA goes Husky would of never built the new design 365/372 XT , the older 372 sold more saws than most people could ever believe but it to could not pass the newer EPA rules

Yet the epa can contaminate rivers but that's ok cause there the government so it's ok... Kinda ironic huh

That's true one in the restricted topics probably just something I have been pithed about lately. Anytime I hear epa it reminds me

I think  your going to find just like with skidders and other equipment just because a saw works well doesnot mean its going to still get built and with the EPA at control that changes things alot and fast , One thing everyone has to remember is the cost to produce a new saw and then get it legal to sell in North Amerrica , that part cost alot more than what most people will think , just getting a new saw tested to see if it passes the EPA guideline is alot of money and if they only sell X- numbers of saws then its just worth the effect and cost . Us as in loggers or wood cutters are pretty much the main reason for saw companies to build a 90cc plus chainsaw but we donot buy that many as far as numbers of units compared to the smaller home owner saws that are sold at big box stores , Yes there is abit more profit selling a 395 over a home owner 50 cc saw but its not that much more and they sell far far more 50 cc home owners saws compared to 395's or other logging type saws , Every area is different but in my kind of area it would be about 100 - 50 cc saws to 1 - 395 . And now that Stihl has made the 661 and it been out for a while , how many of the guys that wanted 395's but could not buy them and have got feed up with waiting for a 395 or a new design now have went and bought 661's . Its kind of like I would love to buy a brandnew 540 johndeere if I was abit younger but they donot make them any more , samething is happening with chainsaws

Tractors same way. Seem like every 10 homes you will see one small tractor under 30hp. Some have a loader and backhoe too!!!!
