I got some of my hardware in today so I should be able to start assembling it next week. I'm still waiting on my cylinder pin to come in. I had a hard time finding an 1 1/8" pin but it's on it's way.

Here's the first one I built last fall. It had a 3.5x30" cylinder with a 6.5 hp engine and 16gpm pump. It worked very well but I wanted something bigger so I sold it and started building my other one.

You sure do some fine looking work.

Don't forget to use teflon tape or hydraulic thread seal or you will have oil on your new paint . also tell us your cycle time .

I use Teflon tape on every fitting. As soon as I get it up and running I will get an accurate cycle time.

Thank you! I enjoy the challenge!

I got the valve mounted today and got the return hose plumbed in. I work 12 hour nights Friday through Sunday so my weekend working time is limited.

Is that  a Prince auto cycle valve? I think they typically come from the factory with the reliefs set around 2K psi. I am assuming your 2 stage pump is 3k.  You may be missing some PSI if this is the case. The valve is rated @ 3K and you can adjust the reliefs .

It's actually a 2 spool prince valve. One spool for the log lifter and the other spool has a detent for the splitter cylinder. You are correct it is factory set at 2000 psi and I will be running a 3000 psi pump so the relief will need adjusted.

Here is how I made my rear cylinder mount. I wanted something different from the ordinary and I feel it is a bit stronger this way.

I work maintenance at a factory. Jack of all trades, plumbing, equiptment overhauls, general maintenance, welding and fabrication.

A few winters ago I worked part time at a welding shop, got a real good feel for welder setup and my technique during that time.

Got a little bit of assembly done on the log splitter. I'm waiting on some more cash to finish it now.

Outstanding work to say the least.  That kind of quality is impossible to find.
