Well, knowing your proclivity to the obscure, my first question would be - Is this what one would normally call a "tree" and not some strange bush or cactus?

I thought for sure that dark heartwood would be walnut... Hmmmm. Do we get to know what location it came from? I see MO and AZ in the sig of the OP.
