Is it in the Senegalia Genus? Or to broaden it a bit, in the Fabaceae family?  pc_smiley
Not sure which came first, but I have chickens and eggs.

OMG. Another one of those "geniuses" has moved all the Acacias into Senegalia so that they can get tenure and pretend to be adding to human knowledge. Grrrrr
When they do this their name gets added as the authority at the end of a scientific name. There is a lot of wholesale movement of plants from one genus to another with this scam. Honestly I don't know what percentage of these are legitimate. Sure is frustrating, though when a familiar genus that you have been using for forty or more years gets changed with little peer review. Lots of these will eventually get moved again.

Sorry for the rant.

And not that, by the way. ;D :o :o :o :o :o :snowball:

On the same subject are palo verde, Mexican palo verde and J thorn actually the same tree? Or are they the same with different names depending on region? I wish I would have saved more of my books and papers from my FFA forestry classes... splitwood_smiley

Landscraper must be given most of the credit on this one, and a hat tip to pabst. ;D ;D

Blue palo verde is the state tree of Arizona. I got the log when they widened out Ina Road NW of Tucson over 20 years ago. It was tossed in the haul to the dump pile, so I lightened the pile a bit. Didn't get it milled for close to a year after, which is why it is so spalted. Still solid though. I'll try to get a piece that is a bit fresher and post some closeups then.

Thanks for playing. ;D
