I know this is an "off the wall" question but does anyone know anything about cuckoo clocks?  The bird is lazy and on the hour it's always one cuckoo shy of the correct time.  Think there's a simple way to get it  in time?  I know there's always someone here who knows something about "anything" and I don'the know of a better place to ask.  Like at ten o'clock it only cuckoos nine times etc.  The only time it's right is one o'clock.  Feeling purty foolish about the question, but asking anyway. Thanks, Dwight

I would suggest that your hour hand has moved.
I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

Yup, the hour hand should only be friction tight on the shaft and be easily moved.

Maybe dat bird is just lazy and don't want to crow early.   :D

It sound like your bird is old and living in the past, tell it to get with the times and start living in the here and now...but "just" move the hand to where it needs to be, cant be that hard.

We inherited a Grandfather clock last year. Once I got the weights back together and the time set, it was chiming two or three hours off. I moved the hour hand backwards to the hour the chimes were at. Then I wound the minute hand backwards as many times as needed to the actual time. I think it's alright to move the hands forward as long as I stop at each quarter hour to chime, but moving the hands backwards is faster. I'm not certain, but I'd guess the Cuckoo clock movements are similar.

I've got a Cuckoo clock that my Uncle sent home in the late '60 while he was stationed in Germany. I found it in a shoe box, in a closet, when my Grandmother passed.  I brought it home to get it in working condition again, but now it's sitting in my closet.  ;)

Perhaps your bird is protesting daylight savings time.  ::)

Thanks a lot folks.  Finally got enough nerve to move the hour hand to where the chime was (altho the directions specifically said "don't touch the hour hand", ) and lo and behold, it worked...at least one time anyway.  MM that hour hand is TIGHT on the shaft and when I pushed it to the correct hour I guess it moved the innards instead of just the hand itself. Already have one that's only good for decoration because when it got here from Italy it had no instructions and I guess the chains got off the gears.  A long winded way of saying I appreciate the help.
