It was definitely the first time for me  but it probably won't be the last . I should have finished making the cut so it the dog would have a sleek angle cut .That way maybe next time I would miss it all together .  ;D It would have only taken another 3/16 " to finish it off .

It was  all going good . I needed to make on last cut  to finish this log.  Started the cut and   The fireworks started not 1/3 of the way thru the cut . :o   I immediately knew what I forgot to check
.

Good thing that blade was a resharp that came with the mill .The first question the wife asked  if it was one of the new baldes I just got last week . I  reassured her it wasn't  and got a new one out of the box to put on the mill  .

Yea it has that unpainted steel look . I did reposition the dog before I finished the cut . It was funny cause I was thinking about when I witnessed another  FF member do this . I was sworn to secrecy on his though . Wait till he see this ,  he will be all over it cause I laughed at him .

Chet  I'm probably  the only one to post a pic of the scene of attack .

Yes Jeff it wouldn't be too hard to pick this member out as I have only visited 5 or 6 mills from here .

Dan you are a seasoned sawyer now. I told you it wasn't official till you cut some metal off the mill. I am sure there was a few marks already there.  :-X  That was a good cut for a $3.00 resharping job.
You have to cut a piece of that blade off and nail it to your first board you cut with the mill and hang it up in the mill shed when you get it done.

WV_hillbilly

Craig  I quess the resharp was ok . I only cut about  550 bd/ft of maple and a 150 bd/ft of poplar before that happened . Believe it or not but that particular one was unmarred  til now .
I went and picked up another trailer load of logs to cut tommorrow  if your intrested . :D  I already gottem staged . I even covered them up with a tarp so they aren't all snow covered in the morning .
Hillbilly

craigc90

by morning I dont think I will be able to get out of my driveway ;D  if we get the snow they are expecting.Keep warm and take lots of pictures I want to see them on here tomorrow nite.I am cutting a red elm down Sunday for firewood and I am going to save the but log for you. I have a pile started already.

WV_hillbilly

That 's what I like to hear Craig keep piling them up . that way it takes a couple of days to get thru them. I try to do that but when I get  few piled up there I just have to cut them .
Hillbilly

EZ

Ah yes, the sound of a metal blade cutting metal, I've heard this sound myself at least once, maybe two times. ;D
Congrats, Dan. :D
EZ

WV_hillbilly

It does have a definitely different sound . But the shower of sparks is really neat too . I ' m going to try and not do this again but I doubt  I won't .  I  just can't get enough of that saw . It is as addicting as my scrollsaw .  ;D
Hillbilly

Tom

The good thing about doing it the first time is that when you do it the next time you can say " I've don't that before", instead of jumping up and down and fuming and kicking yourself in the tail. :D :D

Now your're "experienced" like me. ;D

leweee

Congrats... yes another honourary member of "dog chewers r us"  8) 8) 8)

I didn't get upset the first time Tom . I just laughed and  said OH S***.     I thought about the first time I saw someone do it , then  just laughed .   I gave mine that sleek aerodynamic angle profile . i think the second dog is planning to attack the blade as it likes the first ones haircut .  :D
