I just purchased some used bags that had beans in them for holding my firewood.  There are 4 straps on top for my forks and a hole in bottom of bag to release the beans after transport.  Its really simple to fill the bags from my processor conveyor.  I just leave my tractor under the conveyor and set bag on ground and leave forks through the straps and fill to top and move bag and do another one.  I am wondering if anyone is using these bags and if they allow the wood to dry out very much.  My other system is the nylon mesh that you hang on a frame on a pallet and fill.  That works great and wood dries out quickly.  But the bean bags are much faster.  The bean bags are rated to hold 2,000 pounds.  Thank You

Red,
Haven't tried them as a chair yet   I filled two bags, I opened the bottom hole on one of them and left the bottom hole closed on the other and then left them on pavement to see if the water will drain out of them or not.  They have an inner liner on the top that hangs down about 2 feet.  I am going to see if I can pull that liner back and use that as a cover after filling with wood.  Just hoping someone can tell me if the bags will "breathe" or turn firewood moldy etc. Also wondering how many times you can reuse a bag if anyone is using these.  Thank You

Friend used the wood processor to fill the 'bean bags' just as you suggest.  Worked great, but at maple syrup time the wood had not dried so much.  May have been our climate, bad luck, how he stacked it or something else.  Perhaps an open sort of row facing the wind with shorter, better split wood, bags set on pallets off the ground would have worked.  Please let us know if you figure it out.

fundyheather,
Thanks for the response, I was showing a guy the beanbags filled with wood today.  Using a pallet underneath is my next project.  I think your right and no matter what area (unless its like Arizona) it may not dry very quickly.  I am going to get a moisture meter and do some tests.  Thanks again
