Will this idea work?

Let me start by saying I don't know Jack-all about drying wood.
I just finished a couple day job cutting ERC live edge slabs for a new client.  Thicknesses were  1 1/2, 2,   2 1/2, and 3 1/8".  These were low quality logs and all freshly felled.
The client says he saw some bugs in the slabs, so he intends to place them into a powder coating kiln at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes to sterilize the wood.  All of 'em.  I don't think this is such a good idea.  But as I said, I have no idea what I'm talking about here.
What do you drying gurus think about this?

Sterilization is usually 160F for 24 hours, after you have dried the lumber. That short a time probably won't sterilize or harm the lumber, but I wouldn't do it.

I would call that "cedar shock therapy".  I think that the bugs would be a better alternative.

At 400 degrees will the wood not burn?? :o :o :o

It would probably work had you cut cookies instead of slabs. :D  :D :D  :D  :D

Wet wood put into that much heat is going to dry the surface very much and very fast. It's going to develop surface checks all over.

Thanks; that's about what I expected to hear.  I'll pass that along to him and hope he hasn't already figured it out the hard way.
