Timberjack 205E with 353 won't idle

Interested in  buyng but have not looked at in person yet. Owner did a rebuild 1000 hr ago and said ever since engine will run fine at higher speed but just dies if you try to slow it down.    Ideas on this??  LB

Rack adjustment Some of them you pushed the throttle all the way closed the kill it . My 3 71 power unit is that way .

I agree with Gearbox rack adjustment is off or the governor is out of whack. I have also seen where guy's have bent the rod from the governor to the rack and messed them like that.

rack or governor tune is off. also i have seen the low idle springs seize up. thats pretty easy to remove and clean up.

The manual is well written. Kind of expensive but tons of info for the whole 53 series.

You can get the manual for free online.
They have about every governor type listed in there too.

Its not a hard process.  check lash, set rack, set governor.  valve cover needs to come off and oil will splatter around a bit, but nothing horrible.


Did he put new injectors in it too?  If he did they may need to be set too.
