One of the things I did while the forum was being revamped was dig around the net.
Found one place where the forum's software was badmouthed, and found several places that were running simular software. Some of those places seemed to be much younger then the forum, but had 2 or 3 times the amount of members, even though they seemed to be of lesser quaility, from my point of view.

I'm thinking we should see a massive amount of growth here in the coming months. Along with many times more posts now that it is easier and faster. Once I started thinking about it, I can't help but wonder how many people and sponsors have stayed away due to the slowness of the old forum compared to some of the others out there.

"Seemed" to be lesser quality?  I dont think anything out there can even hold a candle to the quality we have here.  Heck, it didnt take me one day and I upset quite a few follks to the point of being threatened with lawyers.  I called another self proclaimed NHLA grader to the carpet.  He didnt like it.  I guess he should have been a little more honest in the email.  You see, I dont think those other sites care much about accountability.   

I too have surfed a few other sites all I can say if you want to get ahead in life, look at what the masses are doing and do the opposite.  Those other sites are the most brutal non caring places on the internet. 

As far as the speed goes, if a sponser makes a decision on that then we may not want them.  I think that a sponser that understands this site and its people would jump at the oportunity to support us and what we represent as a group.

Heck, I feel like I'm in the boy scouts again ;D

Hey there Kirk...I'm an Eagle Scout myself.  I'd bet we'd find a pretty high percentage of Boy Scouts on here...(not to hijack the thread or anything...but that's part of the fun on here, ain't it?)   

So Furby...where have you seen people badmouthing this forum?  I'm just curious, actually.  Especially being a part of this place for quite some time, it seems that any badmouthing that takes place tells you more about the badmouther than anything else!   ;D

I may have seen that bad mouthing. Complaining about how slow we were. I wont mention the site.

Anytime someone links to us, I can follow the link back using our sitemeter at the bottom of all our pages, and then looking at referral links.  I have, in the past, written letters requesting links to be reomoved as I didnt want links to us on csertain "types" of websites.  I'm not a big fan of getting links to us willy nilly. I prefer the way we have grown. By invitation for the most part, and by having like minded people happen by, and stay because they felt at home.

Like Jeff, I won't mention the site here, but they were only badmouthing the software. It took several minutes for me to cool down and read through and see that they were not bad mouthing this place in general.

we may be talking about two different places. THe one I went to bad mouthed the speed, they ridiculed us about talking about food, and it all began because they were making fun and sport of somebody's question that was asked about chainsaws here that "they" considered stupid.

 :D :D i dont think the servers in too much of a strain . but i'll bet the bandwidth meter gets up there at times.
I dont know how much jeffs got on this one but i give thanks every time i come in here
for all the time hes put into this and the cost just for the bandwidth.

I have NO statistics to back this up, but it seem's like we have less posts, along with more visits. We need to yak it up a bit more.  DON'T MAKE ME START ANOTHER THREAD ABOUT GRITS! >:(

Actually, the posts are running real close to what they have been I think, I think what is going on is that you can navigate so much quicker that you get stuff read when it use to be you were waiting. People are finding interest in a lot of our old threads as they can now be easily accessed. I want to add to that, don't be afraid to post on an old thread and make it new again!

I'm one of them members that like to look backward at those older threads, just as well as create a new one. And, there is alot of stuff I have to catch up on here. I only been here a year and that ain't near enough time to get caught up. Some days I can't catch up with the new threads. Just when I thought I was current, I open up another sub forum and see all kinds of stuff missed.  I think we are doing quite well. ;D
