this is my third ms250  runs good when running but am on my third rope and now the  starter pawl is broken due to kickback.  Thinking I got a lemon,  Was very happy with the first 2.  Getting older  and the 241 cm is a bit more powerful and is a bit lighter.  any one running one? All opinions welcome.  Also the ms241 has a compression release.  Also have a  ms290 I am happy with.  Hoping to feed my owb  until I am 80 which is why I am looking at A bit lighter saw.  My other heat source is propane and am looking to use wood as long as possible.

I'd bet your 290 wont get used much with the 241cm being a pro saw with more power per cc and running a 3/8 lp chain it will cut really close to the 290 and is way lighter.  Steve

Trapper- Your ms250 sounds alot like mine, runs great but a pain to start, the only saw I've ever broke a starter rope...I bought a 241 a couple weeks ago, really like it! The m-tronics, compression release, and elastostart rope handle make starting this saw a breeze. The anti-vibration on the pro saws is a noticeable improvement, and the weight and balance make this a very comfortable saw to operate. I am running the #3616 (63 PS3 55) OILOMATIC® saw chain that came on the saw and have been very satisfied with the way it cuts. Some of the big chunks of oak have slowed it down a bit, but for limbing and up to the 16" bar size chunks it works fine. I can highly recommend this saw...

Ordered it today.  My dealer is a bit hesitant about the new saws.  He has the software to diagnose it.  He has been happy with the cement saws he has sold but the big saw with m-tronic he sold to a local tree trimmer has been nothing but trouble.  I will buy the stihl oil to get the 2 year warranty.  He said I would be a good one to test it and will be his guinea pig.  He sells a lot of the new huskys and has had good luck with them. He told me some of his customers shouldn't even own a chainsaw.  I once saw a customer in with a new lawnmower complaining about it.  I never have seen a blade so beat up from hitting rocks.

Congrats! The m-tronic is a bit different, your dealer should explain everything. When starting the saw I always put the Master Control lever in the start position, release the compression, and set the chain brake. Cold engine, warm engine, hot engine, same routine every time. The m-tronic will figure out choke or part-choke or no choke on its own, at least that what works for me. Remember the m-tronic is adjusting to working conditions all the time, so switching from limbing to blocking big chunks I give it time to figure out going from "easy street" to "working our a$$ off" to avoid problems. The thing sips fuel on little stuff, needs more gas on big stuff. I really like the air filter, easy on/off and much better to clean than the old ones. Good Luck with your new saw!

I hope and believe you will like the 241, I've researched them a bit and people are generally pleased.

Funny you say that about the compression on the ms250...they do seem to take a "brisk" pull to turn over for a clamshell....

Glad to see you get the 241 as you said with comp release, it will be ALOT easier to pull over...

Also if you want to sell your ms250s I am your huckleberry....I am in Indiana, if you want to ship them shoot me a price...

The 250 is a good saw but you have to be brisk when pulling it. If don't pull it with a snap it will kick at you some times. Got customer bought one(had i been there id talked him out of it) he simply cant pull it fast enough and kicks back and floods because he doesn't get the burp.

In all honesty I really like the ms250...great saw for what they are...I got one that's 5-6 years old, I have used the hell out of it, and she still makes me money to this day!!

My old 250 that cut the wood to heat my house for 15 years was a very good saw.  very few problems, just wore out.

Got my saw today.  First impressions are favorable, time will tell.  Ladylake you are right what I see on my very limited use today cuts about as good as the 290 with less weight than the 250.
