My wife was adopted as an infant, many years ago  ;D, and recently, through Ancestry DNA, she found her biological family, including a sister, a nephew, and a bunch of first cousins.  We've been invited out to meet the family so, we will be making a trip to that area before the end of the year.  Most of them live in Catawba Co. but we will be also visiting near Boone.

Always curious as to whether I am in another member's back yard, so checking to see if there are any active members in those areas.  I checked the map but didn't find much current.  Just passed through that area two years ago on my way to kiln school at NC State, and met a lot of FF members on that trip.

Tom,

Great news. Hope you have a great time meeting the long lost family members.

I am about 3 hours mostly north of Boone. If you miss a turn and end up close come on up to see us. It is coming up on the best time of the year with Fall foliage getting close to peaking around here around then. We have the famous Bridge Day over near Fayetteville (an hour away) on 21 October and our town has a street festival commemorating its railroad history that and the next weekends.

It appears that our trip will be in December.
NC may not be beautiful in winter, but we are from KS.

We will be driving, apparently around Christmas time.  The gathering will be near Boone/Blowing Rock, her closest family lives around Newton.  Thanks for the offers, we'll see what the schedule permits - the priority is her and her new-found family.
