Lt40 diesel auto throttle issue

I am having an issue with my lt40 with the cat diesel. When I throttle down the selinoid that controls the throttle doesn't release. The belt losening mechanism works but engine stays at operating speed. Obviously solenoid releases when wire is removed. I also switched the relay around with the identical stater relay and made no difference. This started as an intermittent problem but has turned to 100% of the time. Any ideas? Maybe just a sign that 90 is too hot to saw.

Look at your schematic to determine what contact opens and where it is located to release the solenoid.  You must loose either battery or ground to release the solenoid.  From there on it's a matter of taking your VOM/test lamp and chasing the circuit down.  

There are some things that you must know or learn how to do whether mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic, and yes, WM technical support can walk you through it.

Hello,
  there is a magnetic switch that is located on top of the up down gear box that excites the relay for the throttle. I have seen this catch a stray bolt or it may just need adjusted.

Great, I will check it out in the morning. I don't know how the southerners do it, 94 here today. It wasn't too hard to come up with an excuse to quit for the day. My mill always seems to need some repair, it's had a productive life. When I bought it it had about 800 hours on it, actually it had 800 hours since the hour meter flipped. The neighbor I bought it from had great fun telling me "we got a new mill last week" actually it was just that the hour meter had flipped. (They replaced with a 70) I have no complaints and considerably cheaper than an actually new machine, just takes some attention at times.

Yes, it sounds like the magnetic switch throttle switch has moved to the full engagement position.  The screws are kind of hard to get to, but loosen them up and slide the mag switch away from the nearby piece of steel that rotates into the switch when the engine rotates to tighten the drive belt.
Remember it a two movement system, the engine rotates up to tighten drive belt and as it rotates, a piece of metal will move in front of the magnetic swtich, with fires the throttle relay and solenoid.

Back to normal operation, thanks for the information. Ended up to be debris stuck to proximity switch.  I didn't realize that there was a separate autoclutch insert in the manual. Part of the trouble shooting section indicated debris could be cause. Now I know where the sensors are and understand their operation. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
