Any Norwood owners using Wood-Mizer Blades for resawing antique timbers. We had a Norwood owner call he has changed his mill to hydraulic drive and thinks the motor is producing about 30 hp. We have many owners using the 1 1/4 x 9 degree blade for old barn timbers. He said he was using
1 1/2 x .042 blades 10 degree angle. What has worked? He said he would need to change the roller guides to run the 1 1/4 " blade.

Thanks for your input!

I have a Norwood & use WM Blades, but just saw poplar, pine & larch so far, sorry, no old timbers

I am currently using .045, 10 degree hook angle WM blades and sawing old white ash logs that have been lying around for a few years. They may not be as dry as old beams but it is still some pretty tough stuff to saw.

I have cut some old barn timbers that were white oak.  I used both the 10 and the 9 degree blade and prefer the 9 degree on the white oak.  I also used the 9 on a resaw job of old heart pine flooring. That was some tuff stuff.  I wouldnt dream of trying a 10 on that stuff.

I know that the 4 degree WM Blades realy work well on the hard stuff I haver been useing them on Hickory and White oak.

We sent him a 1 1/4 x .055 x 9 degree and a1 1/4x  .045 x 9 degree to try. I think the 4 degree would work also. Thanks for the input. We will see how these blades work for him. I will let you know when he gets back to me. The .055 blade works good but you got to know when to take it off ( Flex Life).
