new 181se chain brake

I ordered one of those after market side covers for my 181se so I could have a chain brake.  I've operated it without one for years. When I tried it on the brake band was too tight and would not work.  I took the main spring out and cut 1/2 inch off to relax the band and it worked perfectly.  Just a tip to save someone headaches.

Good plan. 8) That old saw looks to be well cared for. I have had a couple given to me because they are not equipped with brakes, I just clean them up for display so lack of safety features is not an issue for me. If I do need to cut I have properly equipped saws.
