Hello All - I've found alot of useful information and great projects on this board over the years so i figured I'd join.

Intro:
I'm up in Alaska and looking forward to spring. Had the saw-milling and timber-framing bug for a while. I bought a LT15 woodmizer around 2001 and used it to cut as many downed trees as i could find and move by myself. Bought an old trailer and hunted around for trees that were downed from wind storms, road projects or neighbors that just wanted them gone.  I have some kind of a  condition that when i see a downed tree i start to imagine how nice a timber is inside. I also cringe when i see the local tree service bucking them-up for wood or the chipper! I don't make my living with my sawing skills but i do enjoy cutting a nice, straight timber  and making sawdust when i have some time.  Not quite sure yet how to add photos to my posts but stuck one in my album of a big one a local tree cutter dropped in my driveway a few years back - it was to big for my mill and took me quite a while to move it by hand.

I'm in the process of putting on a timber-frame workshop in Alaska early June so if anyone is interested drop me a note.

Schanf,welcome to the forum.
Pictures, the hard part is done. When making a post, open up your gallery, click onto the picture, should be a line that says, click here to put picture in post. Than preview to make sure it looks good. I like to hit the enter key a couple times to drop the picture down away from the words in a post. The enter key really helps if posting two pictures at a time. The enter key leaves some white space between the pictures. The gallery is only used for picture that are used in  post.

Greetings!  I'm in Fairbanks - where are you located?  We may have to talk.  :)  I have a couple very large spruce I may be taking down this summer so that I can build a pole barn in that spot.  1 of them in particular is a nice tree and I guarantee will produce some great lumber.

Thanks for the warm welcome all!

I'm in Anchorage but spend alot of time out at the Forks Roadhouse West of Trapper Creek. I plan on resetting my mill up out there - more space and look to build a cabin at some point.

I haven't had a ton of time lately so i asked a sawyer out of Seward to mill me some nice timbers - excited to see how they come out.
