After hooking to the mill, I pulled forward so I could back up to the shop and get loaded for a mobile job in the morning. Made it about 20' before something felt wrong ☹️ Jumped out and found the front jack under the back tire. 1) I'm glad the 3/8 carriage bolts were the week link 2) glad the local hardware store stays open till 8:00 and they had 3/8x5 carriage bolts 🙈. I guess there are some things that a person shouldn't do when they're tired.

Glad it was a simple fix. We've all pretty much been there. In my case it is the one on my boat trailer. It works, sorta, and I should just replace the bent jack which is going to cost more than the sturdy carriage bolts that I which had broken instead.

This is a club I hope to avoid.....

I haven't broken or bent the jack (yet) but I have left the front one down and plowed a nice furrow in the grass.   A buddy headed for the coast with his boat in tow.  He left the tongue jack down and arrived with just the tube ground to about half its original length. No sign that a wheel ever was there.

I wish you hadn't said that. I seem to have become a joiner, since I started milling. Got the stop last weekend.

Lol, I might have start putting my phone # on everything these days. I made it to my job today without any more issues, but it was a challenging day at the mill. The logs were western red cedar and all butt cuts. The ones that didn't have rot had rang shake. The directions were to cut 80 1x10's with essentially no wane. We ended up with the 80 boards plus a pile of 1x6 and 1x3. We quit at 3:30 so I could get home to watch the Ducks play the tigers. That didn't go the way I hoped 😂

I was impressed with the way he rallied his team like a true leader, he's going to win a lot of games.

I did that once too.  It really is an easy fix, but it still is a fix and I must admit I used some bad words. :D
