What should I use for a species for sycamore? It does not list it in the manual. I have some in the kiln with the vents cracked open. Not sure what is best in Pa in the winter? Will it continue to dry?  Thanks  Tom

Check under "American sycamore" but if not there, use white oak.

Thanks Gene, No American listed either. Should I leave the vents cracked over the winter?

Delmhorst has a comprehensive correction table for lots of species, both domestic and foreign.

Here is a link:
Species Correction Table

Go to the filter window, type in the species, and it will tell you the nearest equivalent and how much it varies from that.

Take steps to save steps.

If it won't roll, its not a log; it's still a tree.  Sawmills cut logs, not trees.

Kiln drying wood: When the cookies are burned, they're burned, and you can't fix them.

Sawing is fun for the first couple million boards.

Be smarter than the sawdust

Is this a solar kiln?  If so, the vents would be nearly completely closed until the outside is over 50 F much of the day.
