The Angola Parks and Recreation Dept. is having a fairly large timber frame pavilion erected by members of the Timber Framers Guild from June 13th to June 25th.  I believe it is one of their training sessions.  Is anyone from the Forum going to be attending?  I would like to meet anyone that comes although I will be out of town for much of that time.  Really upsets me, I had been looking forward to this for some time and then when they announce the dates I discover I will be gone for most of it.  I will be here for the start and the finish hopefully and maybe even the celebration party.

Anyone that may be coming drop me a PM and maybe we can get together.

Dewey - where are they putting this pavilion? I am about 15 miles north, just over the MI line, and would like to check this out.

Dave,

It is in the east edge of Angola at Commons Park which is located right on US 20.  It sounds very interesting, I purchased some pegs which are to be used in the construction.  It is a way to raise some money to help defray expenses.

Stopped by the site where they are working on the timber frame this morning.  Lots of neat tools and many workers but they still tried to put me to work.  I would love to have stayed but had to get back to load out some lumber.  Looks like they were making good progress.

Recently I attended a one week class at the Heartwood School and learn about timber sizing and frame engineering.
There I met a group of four timber framing apprentices.
They were discussing their trip to Angola and helping out with that frame.
There names were Joe, Bryan, Isaac, and Micah. When you're there ask someone who or where are the apprentices and talk with them. They are having a intense instruction in timber framing and can help and discuss timber framing with you. They are a great bunch of young men learning timber framing.

Here is the class photos with some not so young students, also:

A great bunch of guys, who all learned a lot.
