We lost one of our boy's today. He was having trouble breathing so my bride took him to the vet today. He was full of cancer that was impeding his lungs. Only 7 years old.

Wallace is on the left. He was happiest when someone was petting him. Didn't care much for playing ball or other such nonsense. Always had a story to tell us when we got home.
We're going to miss him :'(

That's tough, especially on a not old dog you're not expecting to be that bad.

Losing a good dog is hard, true. Yet tomorrow comes and fills us with new challenges and if you look hard enough, many joys. You'll be ok.

I'm really sorry, Moose! Losing a dog is a unique kind of pain, I've found. You form a special bond with your dog that few, if any others share, so it's hard for them to understand your pain. It hurts almost as bad as losing a person (maybe not for as long) IMO. So you kinda get to walk through it alone. I had some very kind folks reach out to me via PM on here when we lost one of our dogs, there's lots of dog people on here that empathize with what you're going through, I can say that for sure. I'm glad you got Wallace in right away and he's no longer suffering. Good dogs leave lots of good memories, try to dwell on those.

Sorry for your loss.  I can feel for you. Some of the worst days of my life involved the loss of a dog.

MH - so sorry to hear about Wallace.  It's truly not fair how short the lives are of our most beloved companions.  Not having any 2 legged kids that any woman has felt it was worth admitting to, my dogs are my family.  It is the hardest thing to do, but being there with them when it's their time to pass is the greatest love anyone can show.  I type this looking at my two Bassets, The Sausage Sisters, as they approach 10, knowing each minute passes us by.  Love on his buddy, he will need it.

Thank you for all your kind words.
Both are Springers, from the same litter. It's kind of strange but the two brothers never really bonded that well. Polar opposites you might say. The The only time they slept together was was in their kennel. Grommit (so far ) seems to be in deferent to loosing his brother.
I don't know that we can spoil Grommit anymore than we already spoiled both of them but I'm sure we'll give it a good try!!
