Grease that says polyester somewhere on it is usually good enuff.

My favs are "Mystick"  (I dunno the brand but it's a light ginger color)

Lucas oil makes some called Red n' Tacky.  It's both.

I avoid Lithium grease for machinery parts as it seems to squeeze out and fall off.  Not gooey enough I guess.  HTH

Another note, people used to go ape poo over moly greases.  It isn't actually a good thing in an EP grease as the molecules can be grit like and wear.

Years ago, I was working maintenance in a concrete pipe plant, and we had some extreamly severe conditions witch in some instances, bearings would need replaced, at least daily. We started experimenting with different greases, and we ended up using Amsoil, Synthetic Heavy-Duty EP Grease, NLGI #2. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ghd.aspx
We tried dozens of differend greases, some costing over 10 times the amount, and none other out performed the amsoil Heavy Duty EP grease. Some came close, but nothing even close to the price came close. I am in no way affiliated with Amsoil, but through some of our own testing, I became a believer in it. You might find others that will argue the piont, but I have seen first hand that it will extend the life of your bearings.

Hi ya's
It realy depends  on a lot of things  a lot of EP grease  can't handle  higher temps i have used Val-plex  in all my farm gear  and had no probs with it  in uni's  steering joints etc etc  i find it does not wash out  or fall out ,i have tryed other lithium greases but found them poor  and would trow from uni's  or wash off with water ..areas i need a lot of grease  like cast plain  grease bearings i have run with just a common EP grease  just becouse of the amout used and time between greaseing  (50-100 pumps per 2-3 hours )  moly i have found good but  not in  unis or full turn roller bearings  works ok in low speed  high load  glaser(?) type bearings that are not doing full turns  .. hope something in there helps
