My international 544 farm tractor among other problems lost a piston.  99% of use would be picking up logs to put in pole barn to saw, pushing snow, and carying firewood.  thinking if I could find older industrial loader tractor it would work.  only downside no 3 point on rear.  all comments welcome.

Do you own any 3point attachments?

Some of the industrial tractors do have a three point hitch.
You may think that you can or may think you can't; either way, you are right.

For loader chores an industrial tractor is by far the most bang for the buck.

mike just light home made forks.  a set on the bucket would be just as strong  A backblade would be nice but could get along with out it.  Have most of the time already.

When I set out to buy my tractor I was looking for skip loaders, which I guess you could call an industrial loader tractor.  I think I steered away from them because they were heavier than I wanted, but they would have been great at moving logs around.  Also, a lot of them have cabs which would be nice in the winter.  Some have 3 point and some don't.

Any older telehandlers around?  You can't beat them for lifting stuff.  Would need to get a bit creative with the snow plow - mount it to the frame and use the boom to lift it sort of creative - since the booms don't like to push a lot.  I don't know how I ever got along without mine.

It would be a very rare thing for me to consider a 2wd skip loader over a wheel loader if the money was comparable.  If the skip loader is essentially a backhoe with no hoe, no pto, no 3 point.. Its just a bucket and not a very maneuverable one.  Poor traction, lift capacity limited by a steer axle and reversing up any sort of hill with a full load forget it. Itd have to be very cheap.. sub $3k for me.

For $7k and up you can find a small wheel loader that runs. Clark, hough, michigan, IH, kawasaki, cat, waldon, even bobcat made a swinger.  Articulated, 4wd, loads of traction comparatively, big lift capacity, easy engine access usually.

Telehandlers pack a punch but didnt do dirt work until more recent years [and now theyre nasty machines, super capable but huge $$]  so if a bucket is important and 3pt/pto/drawbar isnt the win goes back toward wheel loader.  A drott bucket, snow pusher and grapple forks with a fairly quick to change coupler would be a sharp arrow in anyones quiver.

I can do all of those tasks easier and faster with a skid steer compared to a tractor.

Too old to be getting in and out of a skidsteer all the time.  need to be able to reach hydraulic controls from the ground as i have to pick up logs in line with the tractor to put them in the pole barn

A medium compact wheel loader 45-55 hp. You would love. Turns on a dime, excellent visibility, easy to get in and out of, huge lift capacity and they can dig surprisingly well

Have you looked on face book? I have been looking at skidders and some loaders show up. A large tractor with a boom on the back odd or rare? Up your way. Mi is all right for me but Wis is a bit much.

I once had a Ford industrial tractor, 3550.  It had 3 point, and had a heavy front end.  Thing was a hog on ice.  Had to have a load on the rear if there was any moisture on the ground at all.  Even grass made it lose traction. Did have a good loader, but any load on the loader caused it to lose traction on the rear wheels.

I ran a New Holland 545 on a driveway shaping crew. I think it was about 9000#, it had a 3 point and PTO but the shop had disabled it to put a big counterweight on the back, which was a 55 gallon drum filled with concrete. It was outfitted with a belly blade for shaping gravel. A very capable and nimble little tractor, it had a lot of traction and the FEL would lift more than it even should of probably. I was always worried about blowing a tire when loading an end dump😬 It sipped fuel too, little 3 cylinder Ford diesel.

I've got a 753 Bobcat.  It sucks climbing in and out of it all day, especially now that I'm older, but the maneuverability of skid steers is unmatched.  A JCB or Volvo with the side entry would be nice IMHO :) :)
I've got a TC40D NH 4X4 with a loader.  Great little tractor easy to get on and off, doesn't tear up the ground like the skid steer but I'm like a cub bear with mittens on when it comes to straightening up 100" firewood with the forks so I can load the firewood processor.  I give up and get the Bobcat ;) ;D But with the 3pt and PTO it does what the skid loader can't.
And I've got a 544H JD wheel loader with 2.5 yard quick attach bucket, forks and best of all a heated cab 8) 8)  It does what the others can't but is big and climbing in and out of it all day WILL wear you out.  Can't be beat for our snow removal needs and there's nothing on the place it won't pick up.  It's quite nimble considering its size.  It's really just a BIG wheel barrow :D ;D
If I went to one machine it would a 545 NH 4x4 with cab, 3pt and PTO.  That's what I had in mind before the JD and NH showed up.   Four wheel drive would be mandatory.  Case and JD made models comparable to the Ford/NH.  One of those would work too.

We have a case 580 and we took off the hoe and built a bracket and put a Texas block on the back .It has worked very good for us and it is built very strong for lifting.

Up here, we call 'em a Canada block.  :D ;) :D
More than a ton of stability and traction back there!
I'll be filling the back wheels with beet juice this fall.
Right after the six cast iron wheel weights get bolted to the rims.
Then the Canada block can be dropped off and the PTO can be used again.

Yes Andries you are correct. The cement companies make them here with over run cement and they have a tongue and grove for making walls .Ballast on the rear of loaders makes a world of difference.

For lumber and logs a big wheel forklift works great. They [in 2 wd.] have so much on the drive wheels and then you can put on chains.  That's what my first forklift was and I miss it because it would go any where.

That is a smoking good deal on 580, nice job

That is kind of what my friend who inspected it with me said.  He told me i stole it  He is picking it up for me thursday.  Needs tires but everything on the loader is tight.  engine sounds good.  tire chains from my ih 300 should fit.
