Sold some of this burl finally, seemed like it was for a nickle/bf.  I decided that weren't no fun.  A couple of days later I got a order for a maple burl mantle with a matching mirror.  That pays much better.  I'll post some pictures once it is completed.

DanG, DanG, DANG!
I can't find my digi camera and need to post some photos to cath you all up with what has happened in this last year since this thread was started.

1) I didn't know what I was doing a year ago and fortunately ignorance is bliss until you wish you would have done it different.

2) The burl that I sold for what seemed like a nickle a bf I soooooo wish I wouldn't have sold.  I dearly need it right now when it would pay $20/ bf.  Go figure (Ignorance isn't always bliss)

3) I got this amazing new (to me) powercraft 12" radial arm saw from 1950.  You have got to see this thing!  IT'S HUGE! 8)  I traded my dad my old 8 1/4" Radial for it.  He traded something like $200 in labor for this baby.  DANG! I need to find that CAMERA  >:( >:( >:(  This radial will cross cut 28"  8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Cutting some old growth fir ~16" wide CVG that was my first sawing job

4) The Mantle is due Monday and I finally got the moisture (lumber from the burls cut from the above thread last year) down to below 12%.  I'll be busy this weekend.  I Soooooo need to pick up my used Woodmizer Solar kiln.

5) I love to learn, and here is a great source for knowledge. I look back a year of what I knew then and what I have learned since then from the FF members, it's amazing.  I thank you all.

Here's some photos of the Powr Kraft radial arm saw.  I already smoked the thermal reset button.  Anyone every replace one of those?

You are sure sgetting a good supply of scrap metal for when the price rises.  At this rate you will beable to retire in just 5 years rather than 10. ;D

Mr Pender, that isn't scrap, it's a treasure.  ;)

Here's the Mantle and mirror.  My camera is sick and needs to be put down.  If anyone needs to borrow it to throw at a snake in there basement, please let me know.  :D

Well,
It's been almost 2 years since I've bought the mill and were given these treasures.  I haven't struck gold yet and probably haven't even made a monthly mill payment with these and the culmination of  other lumber sales yet.  However, mobil sawing has paid about 50% of last years loans.  The sawing has been an adventure but due to property constraints I'm limiting what I'll store as far as logs and lumber.

Here's the deal...
Kathy & I are going to get married on March 11th of this year (2006).  I proposed to her on a wet, cold, clutchless car (hers  ;D), swamp stuck truck & mill, miserable sawing job about 8-12 months ago (she said, "yes," before the bad part of the job hit.)  We've now bought 2 1/2 acres about 7 minutes from here that will be our new house, company site, saw shed & lumber storage, oops I almost forgot Kathy's chicken coop.  We're too excited about moving.  The bad part is it's a 2 1/2 month closing and we've only burned up a couple of weeks.

I'd like to appologize for my last 2 months of non partisipation and 0.00 photo posts. I think you all know how I like the photographs.   ;)

Gilman,

That radial saw is SWEET with the belt drive you could put a Powerstroke behind it if you neede to. I always prefer tools with non direct drives. Reid

I don't have the motor or plumbing hooked up yet.  One too many projects ahead of it.
