I wish I could hook up to natural gas but not likely. The funny thing is I have a gas pipeline across my property about 150 yards from the house but it's a 30" high pressure line and they say they can't branch off it. On the bright side when they put it in they paid enough to heat the house for at least 15 years.
Check the easement they have across your property.  I have a cross county natural gas line that crosses my property.  The easement from 1936 required them to provide me with a farm tap.  I don't know the pressure, but there is a pressure reduction to make it usable for home use.
Can't hurt to check. What they want you to believe and what they are legally required to do can be two different things.

or geothermal with a woodstove for fun.
I would retrofit, but would have to tear up driveway and garage floors, or tunnel.
Thanks @doc henderson , I will be starting from scratch and want to make sure it is one and done :)
