last year was our first year.  It is nice to put faces and voices with all our friends.  I almost wanted my laptop so I could merge the handle and avatars with real names and faces.  I have only been a member for about 3 years.  I was told early on, that I am a member and have privilege's the same as all members.  It has become a part of my daily life.  see you there all.

OK, it is Official, the Wife is fully on board and we pulled the trigger and rented the ONLY trailer rental they have at Hidden Hill Campground so we can be with some of the camping crowd. I had a lovely chat with both the Husband and wife that own the place, I think we talked for 40 minutes about roasting pigs, raising kids and surviving a pandemic world. Very pleasant and friendly folks, looking forward to meeting them. I note that we made the first reservation for the weekend, and yes they know about the Pig Roast from previous years. In fact, if you mention the pig roast or the FF when you reserve your spot, once we hit 8 in the group we get a discount. She was kind enough to start a list because based on what I read, we will hit that number if previous years are any indication. She also mentioned that they 'love pig roast leftovers [wink, wink]'. :D
So we are committed and more excited than we deserve to be. This will be the first vacation my wife and I have taken together in about 10 years and we plan to enjoy ourselves all along the way. If any of the easterners who have done the route know of things we might look out for between the NY border and Harrison, please pass it along. I think we will stop for the night somewhere around Youngstown and Cleveland, OH, but we are not firm on anything.
Get those reservations in early folks, the last two events I remember a lot of folks scrambling for a place to stay when June hit. Just sayin'
This is gonna be GREAT! bon_fire

That's great OG.  I will look at dates real soon.  I will have to get a few days of vacation scheduled before I make any reservations.

Yeah, shift work is tough scheduling. I hope you can pull it off. As you will be there before us, let me know if you find any lazy little fishing holes. Nothing fancy I am easy. ;D
Also I forgot to ask if they have any internet at the campground for forum updates, maybe whne somebody calls them, they can ask and pass it along?

Having made the commitment, my wife and I were reflecting a little and just realized this is our first vacation without kids or grandkids in over 36 years. I hope we can remember how to do this without help. ;D

You/They got it!
They were such nice folks on the phone, I figure maybe there was a fair chance 'something could be worked out'. ;D Maybe it's easier to just have them come by? I dunno. I know when we hosted the family reunion and did a pig roast (125 people for 3 days) we had some local folks that contributed in some way or other come join us and we had some friends that just came and worked their butts off helping out. That can be a big part of the fun.

We stayed at Hidden Hill several times and it was quick and easy from there to Jeffs. If we make it this year it will be a last minute decision depending on how our move and building are going.

My oldest is thinking about Hillsdale College.  She's still got another year of high school though.  Occasionally I get business trips to Detroit/Troy.  If either of those factors have me in the area when you do this in some future year I'll come out.  Otherwise it's about 2400 miles (each way) to drive.  I'm sure the pig is tasty and the company excellent, but that's a long way to go.
Hillsdale College would be an outstanding choice of school.
They have held the presidential debates there
I can't remember but it might have been a CNN watch party
Hillsdale is one of the few I'd not have much in the way of philosophical problems with paying tuition money to anymore.  It's not the right choice for a lot of people but if it has the field of study your kid really wants, IMHO, it's tough to beat.
We shall see what happens.  Thing 1 might attend the community college for a year or two first.

It's that new math. ;D :D
The Ford museum sounds interesting. I have always been a student of his manufacturing concepts and design thought process which became the basis for the modern 'just in time', 'lean manufacturing', and 'Toyota method' which others took all the credit for but came from old Henry. Henry had some 'odd' social and political ideas, some were innovative and under appreciated I think, but some were not to my way of thinking at all. Because of the latter he was relegated in many ways to a footnote in history rather then one of the primary thinkers of the methods we use today to make things.
Anyway, I would like to go to that, but it's a little pricey for us fixed income folks. Perhaps and the way home. Maybe it will be a better selling season and we can splurge a little.

I've been to the Ford Museum, it's a "museum" museum, not dedicated to Henry Ford.

It has some cool stuff, though.

Yes, I spent a week there one day. No actually it was a week, back in the 80's we did a tool show in Detroit, but stayed across the river in Windsor (the border crossing took less than 5 minutes in those days). But as we would just be passing through, I might consider it. Henry had a big influence on my career.
Looks like they have several things in the complex besides the one place. Thanks Dan, I guess I will give it a closer look.
