Turning Axle

Somewhere recently in a response to a thread here I mentioned I had a rare turning axle on my 50' long portable sawmill. Two people asked if I would post pictures of the mechanical set-up of this axle.

Do you know what it was made from?  Old military stuff maybe? Or from a tandem trailer slide?


 I see its a walking beam and turntable with hydraulic steer arm.. Where is the valve, inside your truck? Solenoid valve or manual spool?

Valve/pump is self contained unit using 12 v. battery. Joy stick controls movement. Very simple. It would work today if somebody hadn't stolen the hoses.

Thanks for the pics and idea. Has my head thinking on how I can adapt turning to the axle on my home made setup. Very interesting 👍🙏
