wife came down with severe stomack virus // anyone got a remedy // like to take her to er to contrary to go any advice

many things can cause a gastroenteritis. nausea, diarrhea, vomiting. If it continues, she needs to be seen. zofran is a good antiemesis agent, your doc. might call it in if you see them regular. food poisoning is very rare. many of the symptoms of omicron covid are N/V/D. of course, it can be other things. severe pain and tenderness would make me more concerned.

keep her drinking fluids constantly. shes bound to be a few quarts low on the dipstick.

I believe NVD is Nausea, Vomiting, and Diarrhea.
My occasional bouts with stomach virus is that a good vomit makes things a lot better quickly. I try to put it off, but I feel so much better when I give in.

as well, if she has cramps, a good #2 will relieve that. I agree with hydration, and if not eating food due to illness, an electrolyte solution is good. normally you would get salt and sugar from food so water is fine. the particles are part of the absorption, so if not eating, gatoraid is better absorbed (any sports drink with some salt and sugar). if actively nauseated, drinking too much at a time will promote vomiting. sips are better. distended stomach or rectum with GI illness = "get rid of it"! thus N/V/D! 8)
