Wood-Mizer offers an upgraded track wiper for the 30, 40, and 50 mills. Mine was impersonating a pretzel and the felt ran off to join the circus a long time ago. I think this was $42.11. Big difference from the stamped sheet metal original.

I am assuming that it still has the felt pad?  I pop riveted my felt in and it has stayed in place.  Just curious about how this new one is built.

I wire brush and saturate mine with ATF every sawing morning.

The four bolts hold a plate on the bottom that clamps the felt in place.

I ripped out the felt, just have the tin there to keep out the junk.
No build up on the track. Been like that for years, no problem.

I saw them last Friday at Parsons Woodmizer last Friday.  Mine has not worn out yet.  Like MM I brush it off and saturate ATF on it before each job.

Not only cleaning and ATFing the felt regularly, but have to remember to clear sawdust off before cutting the last one inch board to avoid pressure against the wiper.

I just ordered a new wiper, I hope I got the upgraded one.

Update: just checked the order and the part # matched 👍🏻

I put one of those on my old LT40.  ATF on the felt has reduced the sawdust buildup on the rails by quite a bit. I was having lots of trouble with ash sawdust especially.

just ordered one.  First person I talked to knew nothing about it.  He transfered me to Doug who was up on it.  Also ordered a belt tension gauge that I should have had long ago.  Ordered blades and the price sure spiked.  Gave the forum credit for learning about the new wiper.  Hope it encourages them to continue being a sponsor.

Mine came in today and it sure is built a lot better than the original.

You take it off and scrub/oil the felt every day?

There's a fine line between turning firewood into beautiful things and beautiful things into firewood.

Magicman

Absolutely, every morning before sawing it gets wire brush cleaned and saturated with ATF.

And here I'm like MM, I cleanand oil my felt all the time. My old 93 LT40 I oiled everything every day, chains, felt, every day. When I got my new 40, I was told I didn't have to oil every day.  :D Now I oil every monday, and also check the drive belt tension.

I suppose that the ATF prevents any buildup on the top rail.  I know that I have never had any.  Of course the white Teflon wipers are the first line of defense.

I also oil (ATF) every day of milling.  I am on my second LT40 but was not told that daily oiling was not necessary.  I will keep on oiling.
