I have a need to find someone to price out and harvest about 30,000 bft of grade cherry we have on our family farm near Mount Vernon Ohio. Any ideas?

You should think about getting a forester to at least mark and scale it.  You can sell it if you want, or you can let the forester do it.  Always get more than one bid.

If i was in your shoe's I would stick with a bigger sawmill. Have a couple of timber buyers from the bigger mills bid on it. And let them go back and forth sell to the highest bidder!

I bought timber for a large mill.  Auction bids like you are talking about aren't received too well.  Too much hassle, especially for 30 Mbf.

Besides, when you only have one bid, then they bid their best price first, not last.

Have your local conservation district forester, DNR service forester, or a professional consulting forester look at your stand first for a management recommendation and values.

The "highest bidder" is not always the best case to meet your management objectives. :P
